Looking back at older depictions of "the future" is often a mixture of hilarious and embarrassing, with unrealistic expectations and pie‐in‐the‐ sky technology predictions. This is not so with Star Trek. An astounding number of indispensable elements of modern life bear uncanny resemblances to things depicted in the iconic series. We may not have transporters yet, but what things from Star Trek's "future" are realities right now?
